The Extrusion Plant

“Extrudere” purely and simply means “to press out". During the extrusion process, maize, rice, wheat or oat flour is mixed with water, kneaded to a dough with a screw dough mixer and is then squeezed out through a shaped nozzle. The dough swells up and dries to a crunchy structure. As it leaves the nozzle, the product is sprinkled with sugar or cocoa syrup and left to dry. This is how our finest Teddy bears and our popular Choco-shells are made. Cereal puffs with chocolate filling can also be produced using this same equipment.
